IFLY (Iowa Flyers)

The Iowa Flyers, also known as IFLY, opened in the fall of 2009. Their practices were first held at the University of Iowa Field House, however they recently moved to the newly opened Campus Recreation and Wellness Center. The head coaches at first were Blanca Lehnertz and Daming Zhu. They started with six different swim groups, Developmental, I, O, W, A, and A plus. Later, they added more groups like Developmental 1 and 2, and I plus. In the fall of 2010, Megan Oesting became the new head coach of IFLY and changed the group names. Some new ones are Junior A, Junior Elite, and Senior.

When IFLY first started, Joe Favia coached the O Group. The O Group always practiced in the same place known as the "O-Zone." The O Group members, sometimes referred to as the Oranges, thought Joe was a really great coach and were sad when he had to leave for Graduate School.
